Highest quality cypress specialty pieces from sinker cypress logs salvaged in. the Atchafalaya Basin. Baldcypress trees were clear cut in the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century, and Greg Guirard finds the lost logs, digs them out of the bottom of the swamp, saws them into table top pieces as well as lumber for all purposes. Salvaging is the only remaining source of virgin-growth cypress lumber, often referred to as "the wood eternal" due to its resistance to deterioration and termite damage.
Colors vary from red to brown to golden. The wood is ideal for furniture making, cabinets, counter tops or any purpose to which beautiful, high-quality wood is normally put. Boards vary from one to two inches thick and up to 28 inches wide.
Prices vary by the piece for table and counter tops. Standard lumber prices vary from $4.50 to $6.00 per board foot, depending on the width of the boards.
